Is the strain of shift work, large caseloads, and red tape taking it’s toll?

  • Compassion fatigue/burnout: feeling numb, irritable or nothing left to give

  • High stakes decision making fatigue. It can literally be life or death!

  • Neglecting yourself because your default is to help others

  • Stigma around asking for help. You think you should be able to handle this on your own.

  • Unable to find a therapist for your crazy work schedule!

“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you, doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”
Lisa Olivera

How I can help

Before becoming a Social Worker, I spent many years working as a nursing assistant and phlebotomist. I worked in memory care units, adult foster care homes, outpatient labs, and several hospitals. During grad school I was a Cannon Fellow which focused on integrated healthcare. This meant my internship and for many years post-grad I worked collaboratively in healthcare settings with doctors, nurses, techs, and psychiatrists. This background has provided me with a unique understanding of what it is like to be a healthcare provider.

What you go through on a daily basis, you deserve a time and space that is just yours. To be able to function at your job, to be a better friend, parent, partner, you have to learn better ways to handle it all. In sessions with me I offer a truly non-judgmental space to get it out. Talk about your boss working your last nerve, insurance denying life saving care, or losing a patient. Leave it here with me so you can go back to being a high performing efficient healthcare provider.

Learn about how compassion fatigue or burnout is hurting you and those around you. Then get to work with practical tools through DBT coping skills or deeper somatic work. Let’s figure out how to handle your shit together.

FAQs about Healthcare Professional Therapy

  • I offer very flexible telehealth options including evenings and weekends. Also consider extended sessions to get more done without needing a weekly appointment.

  • Short answer YES!

Longer answer, you are used to being the expert in the room and having all the answers. It is REALLY hard to step into a space that is foreign. Out of control even.

Just as I would come to you to figure out how to treat an infection, you need to see mental healthcare providers to help you figure out how to treat your mental health.

If you are prescribed an antibiotic to treat your infection you must take it as prescribed right? Same with our mental health. It takes that same daily commitment to feel better mentally.

If you apply the same dedication you do at your job as you do to your mental health then yes therapy will work!

  • I know the consequences a healthcare provider can face if a licensing board or employer find out about mental health or substance use issues.

Your privacy is of upmost importance to me. Because of this I do not bill insurance companies thus no need for diagnosis or prying eyes. I also intentionally keep my notes vague in the case anyone requests access.
